Bell Flower

This picture does absolutely no justice to the beautiful thread "Leafy" from Marilee Rockley aka Yarnplayer. The shuttle is from Sherry Pence aka LadyShuttleMaker. The pattern is Bell Flower from page 46 in Tatting with Visual Patterns by Mary Konior.

The directions call for 3 motifs to be grouped together. I wanted one in green as the foliage, but now I can't decide what color or colors to use for the other 2 motifs. Any suggestions?

  1. Very pretty! My suggestion is a variegated pink for the next and then a solid pink for the center. That is the way most of my roses look. They are always darker in the center. Please show us what you decide.

  2. I can't top Laura's suggestion. I too can't wait to see the finished product!

  3. Yes, pink is good. I would suggest blue (because I like blue) but blue roses are just a song, aren't they? I do like what you've done so far. I'm still thinking on what I want to do with my Yarnplayer thread -- she makes such pretty ones!

  4. Bright, bright colours for the petals and probably variagated. Yellow for the centres. Heck, any colours would look lovely with that fantastic variagated green. Lovely start.

  5. Thanks for the compliments! I ordered some pink yesterday... believe it or not, I only had solid pink! I love the idea of blue roses... blue's my favorite color too! And why didn't I think of yellow for the center? We have so many beautiful flowers in our garden, thanks to Dave (I kill plants no matter how much or how little love/neglect I give them)... I should have remembered how yellow makes the colors pop! I guess I'll just have to make a bouquet!
